We’ve now held two family parties at the Watergate Inn—my daughter’s christening and my grandad’s 81st birthday—and I honestly can’t recommend them enough. We had about 40–50 people both times, and every single guest was raving about the place. The food is INCREDIBLE. It’s all made fresh, no frozen food in sight and it was so tasty, and the value for money is just unbelievable. The staff are so lovely and attentive too; nothing was ever too much trouble for them. Very nice pub. I stayed in one of the rooms they have behind the pub. I’d already read the reviews but unlike some others, I didn’t have any problems with my room. Everything was clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Meals cost extra so I only had the breakfast which was reasonably priced. Great location as right in the centre of the city. The only issue I faced was that the walls are quite thin so at night I could hear the man in the room below me snoring! Taps running etc. But on the whole, the noise wasn’t too bad, could not hear the pub.

14th to 16th april 2026 Stayed here for a couple of nights break with the hubby. Staff really lovely and can't do enough to make your stay more pleasant It's situated in an ideal spot right next to the river with secure parking and so close to shops, bars and restaurants but to be honest we ate at the watergate and pleased we did as the food was tasty and plentiful and freshly cooked. The room was clean and bed comfy,the bathroom was clean and loads of hot water. We will definitely stay here again and definitely recommend the place. Mr & Mrs freeman
